The truth is I’ve had a little bit of fun styling my outfits to match my purple hair these past few weeks. While this was not my intent, it started off as a safe way to rock my purple locks without clashing other colours. Until it eventually took on a life of it’s own. I never realized just how much purple was lurking in my closet until I surpassed the 2 week mark of playing the purple matching game. I actually quit playing the game (before running out of purple garments). Only because it simply became too predictable for coworkers to guess what colour I’d be wearing the next day. Not being one to conform to such predictability, I had to give it up. Although I found that it has not been a struggle to wear other colours with my purple balayage hair.

If you follow my Instagram then you probably know that I dyed my hair purple. It was one of those spontaneous things I decided on a few days before my regularly scheduled hair appointment. Usually for Fall I tend to go with darker hair colour and because I felt like doing something different, purple just seemed like a fun idea.

As for outfits, I wasn’t sure at first what colour would work with my purple hair so I played it safe by wearing a white romper to the salon. I bought this romper from Garage last year but didn’t get a chance to wear it. Thankfully rompers are still in this summer or else this poor thing would never have seen the light of day. As I write this, it’s been a week exactly since I’ve dyed my hair purple, and I have to admit that I have no regrets about going with such a bold colour. Every now and then when I’m out in public I’ll catch someone staring hardcore – then I remind myself that I do have bright purple hair after all. Have any of you ever dyed your hair a bold colour? Do tell…

When it comes to transitioning from summer to fall, it is often bittersweet for me. As much as I look forward to the exciting new colours and textures of the season, the summer girl inside of me cries a little for the loss of summer and skin baring warm weather. Although with Fall come playful textures, deep and rich red and golden hues. In addition, Fall gives us the opportunity to be more creative with your layering game. Enter that perfect summer to fall transitional piece…

As soon as I laid my eyes on this tunic not only did I adore the cut, but I fell in love with the bold 70’s nostalgia print. I tend to stick to cooler colours but the boldness of this print screamed fall to me. While the cut and length of the tunic appeased the eternal summer girl inside of me. And my absolute favourite part?? Pockets!! Yes, I do get excited over pockets on dresses and skirts.

The ultra short length of this tunic makes it the perfect dress for those late summer days. And the colour palette will compliment those bold red and yellows we associate Fall with. I am almost looking forward to slightly cooler temperatures so that I can start layering this tunic over pants and denim. It’s pieces like this that help to ease my discontent about the end of summer days and Free People has been killing it this season with what I deem the oh so perfect summer to fall transitional piece. It seems like most of their dresses were made with the intent to provide an effortless transition into fall (case in point here). What are some pieces you are really looking forward to wearing soon? Are tunics and summer dresses in your rotation for Autumn?
