Dress, Free People. Shorts, Signature 8 (Nasty Gal). Shoes, Pink Martini. Purse, Rebecca Minkoff. Sunglasses, Gucci

Snagged this Free People sleeveless knit mini dress, (or is it a side slit maxi top?) from Saks Off 5th while on the hunt for a fringed bag. Wasn’t too sure at first how I would wear this side slit maxi top. But once I wrapped my head around the concept I realized you can get pretty creative with this piece.  starting with layering it over a pair of denim cutoffs.

What I especially love about this dress is the nomadic feel that this piece gives off. Makes me want to throw on a bikini bottom with doc marten boots and hit a desert somewhere…unfortunately for that dream I live in Canada and that is just not going to happen here. Although I might settle for a deserted beach if I can find one somewhere.

Top, bralette, Nasty Gal. Jeans, 7 For All Mankind. Shoes, Pink Martini. Purse, Chocolate. Sunnies, Foster Grant.

When it comes to brand name denim, I’ve always been a Rock & Republic kinda girl. I’m also very loyal so I seldom stray away from something that I like. That being said, I have never owned, or even so much as tried on, a pair of 7 for all Mankind jeans. Well…the other day when I was trying on jeans, my size only seemed to be available in a pile of 7 Jeans and so I gave them a shot. Holy smokes – where have these jeans been all my life!? (Well apparently everywhere, I was just too busy avoiding them) Not only did they fit PERFECTLY, but they have got to be the most comfiest jeans I have ever owned! (They feel like a nice pair of soft yoga pants – none of that stiff denim feel).

I usually struggle with finding jeans (or even pants) with a proper waist to hip ratio for my body type. Hence a lot of times I end up having to buy a size up just to get them over my hips only to be left with a baggy waistline. But not with these bad boys – snug as a bug! 7 For All Mankind jeans indeed – I am a newly converted believer! Styled here with Nasty Gal summer staples (crochet knit + bralette).

What are some of your favourite jean brands, and how do you find they fit?

Spent the day hanging out in downtown Toronto taking in some old familiar sights. Truly got that Spring feeling wearing this boho kimono top with the sunshine beating down on me. Loving the effortlessly stylish look that is so easily achieved by layering this Casablanca top over a simple white dress. It would also look great with a crop and shorts but I’ll save that for slightly warmer double digits. I paired the look with the City Girl shoe which also happens to be from Pink Martini. Added a crochet detailed saddle bag and turquoise detailed jewelry for that bohemian vibe. Glad that it’s Friday again and looking forward to the weekend – what are your plans?
