Here is the story of this blue asymmetrical dress. I bought this dress eons ago when I worked at bebe, with the intention of wearing it for my birthday that year. It wasn’t only the bold azure blue colour that attracted me to it as soon as I saw it on the poster (before the dress even came in the store). But mostly I adored the modern Grecian style. I never did get a chance to wear it that year, and this dress sat dormant in my closet for about a decade.

I wore it out once for a date with my boo a few years ago and then back in the closet it went…until finally last week I remembered it and had the chance to wear it for my birthday. If I had to say, it’s been about 13 years since the intended purpose of the dress was served. And it couldn’t have been on a more perfect night. Sometimes, things are worth the wait.

Spent a lovely afternoon in downtown Toronto which also turned into into my first Magnolia spotting of the season. Every year I make it a point to catch these trees as they blossom. But all I ever seem to find is the one flower that is still clinging on for dear life off a bare tree with a sea of pink petals on the ground. These trees do not stay in bloom for long, and I was simply elated when we caught these by sheer fluke – and on a day we were shooting!

As for the outfit, I am wearing a lace crop top. Which also happens to be the top part of a two-piece lace dress. Paired with a button front denim skirt and these Very Volatile western style ankle boots I picked up from Nordstrom the other day – they have immediately become my favourite shoe.

Been really enjoying the front lace up trend lately and especially on this top. At first glance upon receiving the top it did appear quite sheer and I was concerned that it might be see through on, but the sheer fabric does give adequate coverage. I like the front pockets and loving the way this style looks with ripped denim paired with a feminine styled stiletto (leopard) heel.

Have a great week!
