While patiently waiting for warm weather to settle in I am already looking forward to the continuation of some basic Spring trends. The cropped pant especially being a favourite for a short gal like me as these do not require any alternations for my 5’2 self. In my opinion, cropped pants and cute flats compliment one another. A fun and flirty vibe can be created by opting for lace Continue reading “Basic Spring Trends for SS17”
Embroidered Lace Bell Sleeves
Top, Free People. Jeans, Seven for All Mankind (Lemonberry). Boots, Very Volatile (Nordstrom). Belt, Lulus. Choker, bebe (old).
If the embroidered lace detailing on the bell sleeves of this Free People top are any indication of what’s in store for spring then I am beyond excited. I’ll take all the pretty lace and crochet detailing please and thank you. Especially adore pieces that are simple yet draw your eye to one focal point with such magnificent detail, as is the case here. Another feature of this top (which unfortunately you cannot see here) is that it has a v-shaped open back.
A top like this would do very well dressed up. Which I have every intention of doing, but you know me and how much I love my denim. Even more so this Seven for All Mankind pair which I have come to adore. So of course I could not resist this bohemian meets western look that I created. With the help of a few accessories: western-style double buckle belt and of course cowboy style ankle boots. Which might I add look pretty good with a raw hemline. And such pretty embroidered lace.
On a side note, the last time I owned a pair of frayed raw hem jeans Mariah Carey was playing Heartbreaker in the movie theatre and I was wearing them with a pink crochet crop top. It’s nice to see this trend revived and updated with today’s style.

Why I’m Digging the Ripped Jeans with Fishnets Trend
Jacket, Zara. Iron Maiden concert tee. Jeans, Buffalo. Clutch, Steven c/o Nordstrom. Heels, Aldo. Fishnets, bebe. Rings, Child of Wild.
No word of a lie, I used to rock fishnets under bottoms with stilettos back in the day when it was such a foreign concept that I’d get sarcastic remarks like ‘are you wearing those underneath your pants for warmth?’ While I clearly wasn’t wearing hosiery with holes under my jeans for warmth, I enjoyed the subtle hint of fishnet that peeked through from below the hem of the pant with a nice stiletto. Although I must admit this trend does look a lot more edgier when worn with ripped jeans.
Furthermore, ripped jeans with fishnets is truly a look that no rocker babe can pass up. As such worn here with one of my favourite Iron Maiden band tees, a biker jacket, and leopard stilettos. As well, ripped jeans with fishnets can also be styled with sneakers to create a cute edgy look. However, personally I prefer to style ripped jeans with fishnets with an ultra feminine stiletto pump. It creates a rocker chic look that I cannot seem to pass up.
How do you feel about this trend? Are you wearing ripped jeans with fishnets? Would love to hear what you think.
