We Are Lost Together

nomadic lifestyle

If we’re not in the city, chances are we’re out galavanting a few hours north of Toronto. Chasing sunsets at dusk, stargazing at night, exploring trails and even at times catching the sunrise. If you had asked me a mere 5 years ago if I’d ever be doing this as part of a lifestyle – or even so much as exceeding the boundaries of Toronto, I’d look at you funny and probably make a face. But lo and behold here I am, forever changed by the experiences I’ve become accustomed to as a result of meeting the man I love.

Now I actually yearn for the days when I can get out of the city and as far away from civilization as possible. Sometimes we just can’t seem to get away far enough with the ever growing GTA boundaries. We like to wander. And we like to get lost. In nature.

Every now and then we make plans that just don’t work out. Didn’t get to shoot any blog photos last week. Then we made a completely spontaneous and last minute decision to head up to the cottage for the weekend. Which I thought might give us potential to make up for the lack of blog content, but it rained up there all weekend. Which in a way was kinda nice in itself…but a bit disappointing as I now fell even futher behind schedule for posts. We still had an amazing time hanging out and watching the rain from the inside, drinking vintage wine and watching countless Trailer Park Boys episodes…but most important of all just disconnecting from it all and taking some time to unwind.

We attempted shooting on Saturday, but our timing just would not coincide with the on and off again rain. Then on the very last day (wearing this bohemian look for the ride home) and having accepted defeat from a blog photography perspective, somehow on our way home we as we captured this magic. The timing of everything was uncanny, even down to seconds of time which aligned perfectly to make this happen. It’s amazing how sometimes things can turn around so quickly even after we have accepted what appears to be the  way. Thus reminding me that sometimes you just gotta go with the flow of things, and trust that things will work out, even if you yourself don’t see how.

Modern Victorian

Top, Winners. Bralette, Nasty Gal. Skirt, Asos. Heels (here). Purse, Marc Jacobs. Necklace, c/o Happiness Boutique. Sunnies, (here).

One of the easiest ways to glam up a simple/casual outfit is to put a statement piece on it. For this look, I was inspired by the nouveau modern Victorian looks as seen on the FW 15/16 runways. As well as this pretty flower bouquet statement necklace from Happiness Boutique. The beautifully crafted flower pieces that adorn this necklace work well with the lace detailing of the top, while the gold and beige hues compliment the neutral colour scheme. And speaking of Fall, this look could easily transition into your Fall wardrobe by simply pairing it with a longer maxi skirt.

So how does wearing this necklace make me feel? Happy. And happiness is exactly what the Happiness Boutique delivers straight to your door in the form of a very cute package! When I first checked them out online I found an abundance of ultra feminine dresses and tops, amongst a vast selection of necklaces, earrings, and other jeweled details – and their playsuits are fab! Also, not only does Happiness Boutique offer free shipping, but they also have a customer reward program. Oh, and about the shipping; the necklace arrived before I even had a chance to head over to my mailbox to check on it. I swear it must have teleported or something. Check out their site for your own bit of happiness when you get a chance.

Enjoy your day! xo
