Our weather has been so up and down lately. One minute we’re in double-digit Springlike temperature and the next day it’s snowing. While it does make outfit planning a little challenging, one thing I can rely on is my Madewell cardigan keeping me warm. I picked this one up from the Nordstrom x Style Democracy sale a while back and it’s quickly become my go-to staple. I’ve combined chunky cardigans with delicate fabrics before and am really enjoying the effect of the cardigan paired with a dainty dress. I’m always such a sucker for mixing different textures, especially ones that contrast each other.

Now technically I could have worn this look with OTK boots but was going for a Spring vibe hence the white flats. And speaking of Spring, now we must talk about this nude clutch. This googly-eyed cutie stole my heart the minute I laid eyes on it during the Poppy & Peonies SS17 preview. It’s simple and so fun – and that tassle detail!! (Which is also removable in case you’re not a fan).

That’s actually one of the things I was impressed about when learning about the Poppy & Peonies line during the preview; all of the bags are so versatile! The line comes in a variety of the cutest pastel colours and offer many styling options. Such as interchangeable straps, front flaps and fringes. Poppy & Peonies bags are made to help you with life. Think having a cooler section at the bottom of your bag for your lunch – oh yes it’s true! There were many other gorgeous bags in the line as well, with this clutch lineup being available in a lovely range of pastels. Having said that, this nude clutch really stood out though…maybe it’s because it was looking at me the whole time ;o)

If the embroidered lace detailing on the bell sleeves of this Free People top are any indication of what’s in store for spring then I am beyond excited. I’ll take all the pretty lace and crochet detailing please and thank you. Especially adore pieces that are simple yet draw your eye to one focal point with such magnificent detail, as is the case here. Another feature of this top (which unfortunately you cannot see here) is that it has a v-shaped open back.

A top like this would do very well dressed up. Which I have every intention of doing, but you know me and how much I love my denim. Even more so this Seven for All Mankind pair which I have come to adore. So of course I could not resist this bohemian meets western look that I created. With the help of a few accessories: western-style double buckle belt and of course cowboy style ankle boots. Which might I add look pretty good with a raw hemline. And such pretty embroidered lace.

On a side note, the last time I owned a pair of frayed raw hem jeans Mariah Carey was playing Heartbreaker in the movie theatre and I was wearing them with a pink crochet crop top. It’s nice to see this trend revived and updated with today’s style.

The Cat Bow Tie…and Pink Hair

One of the fun things about blogging is that at times it pushes ones creativity in experimenting with different things. As such, when Versum offered me a piece out of their bow tie collection my eyes caught the cat bow tie. Getting over the initial thought of how would a girl wear a bow tie, it really didn’t matter anymore. Because the cat bow tie had spoken to me. Meow. Well, it spoke to the inner crazy cat lady in me. And aptly named ‘toronto’ – how could a cat loving girl who grew up in Toronto refuse? I also really like the fact that Versum is local (in Toronto) and the bow ties are handcrafted right here…Making me feel like I was part of something special.

Given a bowtie is somewhat formal wear I tried to think of a fun – yet practical way a gal could wear one. Couldn’t think of a better way to style it than with pink. And of course as I write this I realize that I haven’t addressed the fact that I have pink hair in these photos. Well the truth is I didn’t go back to blonde by choice, so when I had an opportunity to participate in the L’Oreal Colorista campaign I jumped at the chance to try a pink shade. So that’s how the pink hair came about (more info on my Instagram).

To complete the look I added some fun accessories: faux fur stole, white fishnets and burgundy velvet ankle boots. This feels like a perfect look for cocktails. So no better time to channel the inner crazy cat lady in me than now; with a pink dress and pink hair…and a cat bowtie.
