When I was younger I had one of those metabolisms that allowed me to eat anything and everything in sight – without gaining a single pound. I’m talking taking down a bag of chips in one sitting or a box of
cookies and nada. And I didn’t work out. Ever. Although people told me that one day it would catch up to me I didn’t believe them. Fast forward many years later – they were right!
It wasn’t until I was in my late twenties that I started to notice my body losing its magical metabolism powers. Almost overnight I started gaining side and back fat – and lost my hourglass figure. At this point I was still in a bit of denial and it wasn’t until my jeans became hard to zip up with serious muffin top overhang that I knew I had to get my body (and figure) back in check.
For a few years now I’ve been working towards a healthier lifestyle. While I’ve made many changes to my diet one area that is seriously lacking is the workout dept. I’ve been wanting to get back into yoga practice, but on my own terms. At home. Yet I could never actually start. So here is how I became motivated to work out.
Even though this may sound like a cliché, I had hoped that a cute outfit would give me that motivation to start working out. I went to Dixie Outlet Mall on a hunt for a cute workout outfit. The first store I visited was Bench and I found a really cute pair of (gasp) pink yoga pants! The yoga pants were $59 already marked down to $24.99 with an additional 50% off! So at that price I was able to pick up two pairs of yoga pants! And so I did. The grey ones ended up being $30 after a 40% mark down.
Next up was finding a top so I tried the Puma store. They had a ton of pink workout tops all marked down 40% so I was able to get two tops for $47. The Puma store also had buy-one-get-one-free tops so I stocked up on two pink tees for $30.
To complete the workout outfit I was hoping to find a pair of slides. I opted for slides vs runners because I wanted my workout outfit to be versatile enough to wear outside casually. I found these really cute slides – pink and with bows on ’em at the Aldo outlet store. They were $55 and because I saved so much on the yoga attire it seemed like a no-brainer.
When it comes to practicing yoga I’m all about the ambiance – I’m talking soft music and a pleasant fragrance. With that in mind a quick stop at Winners scored a peony scented reed diffuser home fragrance for under $10.
If you’re struggling with getting motivated to work out try the cute outfit theory. When you can find a cute yoga outfit all in for under $60 (which is typically how much just a pair of pants would cost) you really can’t go wrong. And make sure to create a space that inspires you to work out. For me this just so happens to be pink yoga mats and peony scented home fragrance.
I’m looking forward to incorporating a yoga practice into my regular routine to inspire a healthier lifestyle. Working out is great for the body. Not only will it help you lose weight but it also lifts energy levels. Humans aren’t meant to be idle. In fact, being sedentary is detrimental to the human body. That being said, this is how I became motivated to work out. Hopefully all you need is some cute workout gear too.

Never underestimate the power of a cute outfit. I do believe that athletic and sportswear can help us get motivated to work out.
